Christmas Skyping, Star Wars and Wishing you A Happy New Year!

This week numbers wise wasn't the best with Christmas and Boxing day being in the way but other than that it was still a great week.

Found some more people that we hope to see this week before the New Year like a guy named Daniel and we met an older woman named Betty who gave us both each a big granny kiss on the cheek (mission kiss #4 haha).

Christmas was good with Skyping! Then on Boxing day we got permission from President Donaldson to go see the new Star Wars movie with the whole zone in Stirling! There was about 20 or so of us. It was GREAT!

We weren't able to see the Blacks this week or many other investigators on account of the holiday season being busy.

On Christmas Eve we went and sang some Christmas carols in the center of Hawick for about a half hour so that was fun.

Just want to say thank you for all your support and wish you all yet again a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love you,

NOTES from Mom:

Stirling, Scotland

Stirling is a city in central Scotland. The city is clustered around a large fortress and medieval old town. Stirling is the administrative centre for the Stirling council area, and is traditionally the county town of Stirlingshire. The city is located several miles to the west of the mouth of the River Forth. Historically it was strategically important as the "Gateway to the Highlands", with its position near the Highland Boundary Fault between the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands and has been described as the brooch which clasps the Highlands and the Lowlands together.
Its historical position as the nearest crossing of the Forth to the river mouth meant that it attracted invaders. The beast of Stirling is the wolf, which it shares with Rome. According to legend, when Stirling was under attack from Viking invaders, a wolf howled, alerting the townspeople in time to save the town.
Once the capital of Scotland, Stirling contains the Great Hall (restored 1999) and the Renaissance Palace (restoration completed 2011) within Stirling Castle. Stirling also has its medieval parish church, the Church of the Holy Rude, where King James VI was crowned King of Scots on 29 July 1567. The Holy Rude still functions, with a service every Sunday.
Stirling is a centre for local government, higher education, retail, and industry. The 2011 census recoded the population of the city as 36,142. The wider Stirling council area has a population of 89,850. The majority of the population is located in its southeast corner, in the City of Stirling and in the surrounding area.
One of the principal royal strongholds of the Kingdom of Scotland, Stirling was created a Royal burgh by King David I in 1130, which it remained until 1975, when the burgh as an administrative unit was abolished. In 2002, as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, Stirling was granted city status.

Christmas Skype with the Family!

Saying Hi To  The Family!

Sharing Some Stories from the Mission

Some Advice to his Sister:
"I have complete faith that the Lord will put you in a mission that you are able to go to, but the thing is if you are planning on it you really need to prepare, like mentally prepare, and emotionally…. The way people react to us as missionaries, it is brutal, the remarks that you sometimes hear. They don't pull any punches."
Wait for it,  Drum Roll, I have some news....!

We get to go see "Star Wars" on Boxing Day!
“So basically it is in Stirling, we’re picking up Dalkeith, going to drive to Stirling, spend like all day in Stirling at President Freed’s House, the Stake President, have pizza, we might be doing service out there. So basically it’s going to be like 20 some missionaries hanging out for the whole day…. It’s going to be good!”

Pretty Excited!

Saying Goodbye and Sending Love!
Thanks to everyone for all your love and support!

Remember the True Meaning of Christmas!

Heya everyone!

So this week was moves week and on Thursday we went to Edinburgh to sing carols with all the other missionaries which was a lot of fun.

Met with Elizabeth and Dougie and we also had a lesson with a new investigator that we got from the A.P.’s named Tony but he dropped us last night when we were confirming our appointment with him.

Just been busy finding as usual and probably the most interesting door that we got was an old lady who was probably in her 80s was smoking some joints cause her house reeked of weed haha.

We also taught Mary and James and their two daughters Fiona and Kiersty the POS (Plan of Salvation) which went very well and they fed us some good roast :)

Forgot to mention that one of my investigators, Annette from Dalkeith, got baptized and confirmed this last weekend! :)

Hope you all have yourselves a very Happy Christmas!

Remember the true meaning of Christmas this week, what is Christmas without Christ?

Moves Call, And We Are Both Staying!

Heya everyone.

So this week we got our moves call and me and Elder Gullion are both staying in Galashiels for the holidays.

We met with Elizabeth and got her with a new date for January 9th for her baptism.

We also had an all Scotland Conference on Thursday where Elder Kearon of the 70 who came and instructed us on the things we have been learning at our other conferences on the Holy Ghost and being good finders and teachers.

Just been busy finding and found some other families that we hope to teach this week and we are seeing Mary and James tomorrow evening.

Taught Andy yesterday the POS (Plan of Salvation) and got to meet with our friend Dougie who plays the piano at church and we started teaching him also.

Our District is staying the same and yea Elder Lampropoulos is in my District and was a wrestler as well.

We are Skyping at President Kelly's house (the Branch President).

Annette has been to church the last 3 weeks with her daughters and will be getting baptized this week hopefully, so keep her in your prayers.

Forgot to mention that we haven’t been able to see Gavin yet but are in contact with him.

We were asked by a member to bless his home, so third home that I’ve blessed, haha.

Take care and God bless!

Desmond, Disappointment, But Then On The Bright Side...

Image from

So this week we had a disappointing weekend, in the fact that Elizabeth did not get baptized.

She passed her interview but she herself did not feel ready so we postponed the baptism. Don’t have a new date yet but hopefully well get a new one quickly.

On the bright side we got three new investigators one named Gavin, the self referral and the other two are a couple named James and Mary.

The lesson we had with Gavin was good, we taught him the Restoration and we invited him to be baptized when he felt the Spirit but he’s not quite sure yet so hopefully we'll talk to him more about it when he gets time off work to meet.

The other couple are a referral from some missionaries in Dundee and they are the friend of a member named Anne from Dundee.

We taught them the Restoration as well and invited to be baptized and they said yes!

No date yet though. It was a very powerfully spiritual lesson and they are wonderful they fed us lunch after and want to have us over for dinner some time.

Yesterday we had a person while chapping last night threaten to call the police because we "shouldn't be knocking so late at night" (it was only 6:30....) and same thing last Monday. I’ve had three people within the course of two months threaten to call the police (the other time was in Dalkeith).

Other than that just spent some of our week traveling to and from Dumfries because the Dumfries elders got in a bad crash so their car is getting fixed but they are okay :)

Answers to some of your questions:

Yea and Annette and her daughter Maxine were the two we worked with that I made the cake for. Maxine and Annette both came out this last Sunday.

People for the most part don't really decorate their homes. Some do but most don't.

This last weekend one of the towns in our area was flooded from all the rain.

Flooding in Hawick from Storm Desmond

Other than that weathers alright and roads aren't that bad.

Take care and God bless!

Flood Waters in Hawick, Scotland

NOTE from Mom Flooding in Hawick:
"600 people were evacuated from their homes along the river bank.
Some sought refuge in the local sport centre, many spent the night in bed and breakfasts or with friends and family.
In nearby Newcastleton people were also moved out of their homes temporarily as Storm Desmond made its mark.
The local volunteer flood group in Hawick were busy helping throughout. Now the town counts the cost and assesses the damage."

A Pretty Good Week, and Turned 21!

Heya everyone so its been a pretty good week.

Biggest things that have happened is that Elizabeth will be getting baptized on December 5th (this Saturday) so keep that in your prayers.

We got two SR's this week (self referals) one of them we hope to meet with tomorrow who’s name is Gavin and the other one is Kate.

We met Kate and asked what it was that she was requesting for the visit and she said she wanted a spirit cast out of her home.

Needless to say we did it even though we didn’t feel anything bad in the home (because it’s not the first time I’ve had to cast a spirit out).

The following day we went back over and taught the Restoration.
On Saturday we had a member named Anne from over in Livingston take us out to eat and later that same day we had a lesson with Elizabeth.

We got interrupted halfway through from a friend of hers barging in saying "Amazing Grace" was in the house (she was drunk....)

Well I was keeping her occupied while E. Gullion talked about her baptism interview with her when Amazing Grace found out it was my Birthday and proceeded to give me a big hug and kiss (I couldnt get away I was helpless from me sitting and teaching on the ground from lack of seats). So that was one present I could have done without.

On Sunday we got another new investigator named Andy who is a nice guy that we met the previous day while chapping. He knows one of the members in the branch.

Elder Kinville got a message to me that Annette went to church for the first time and brought her daughter Abbie along! I was so happy!

Some answers to  your questions:

The tie I had on was a MacGregor tie that I found so it looks similar but it isn’t the same as the one you sent me.

The meal I had was Haggis and Mash.

We didn’t meet with Leslie last week and we’ve gotten to meet a couple of the members. Most of the members are older.

Elder Gullion comes from California and lives near Sacramento.

Anyways love you all and God bless!
