A Blessed Week, and A Kiss for Elder Tullis!

Heya,

So this week was a blessed week.

We got 5 new investigators and 2 of them are really solid.

One of them is the guy Duncan that we met a week or so ago and he came to church yesterday and very much enjoyed it.

Our other solid one is Alan who actually came up to us on the street and said that he tried to contact us through the website but wasn't able to get the message through.

He is really lost and needs help in life.

The other people we got was an old potential named Martin, a FI (former investigator) named Liam, and a guy named Harry that I met weeks back with Elder Scheuermann.

So besides meeting up with these people were still just finding doing the usual work.

Last night Elder Tullis got kissed by a drunk chick and said he was hot but wouldn't even acknowledge me.

She wasn't cute at all so not sure whether to take it as a compliment or insult.

Either way better for him to be hit on by chicks then gay psychos am I right?

President Donaldson and Sister Donaldson came to our church yesterday and gave wonderful talks.

Take care and God Bless!

Love,

Elder Tarbet (Wolverine)

A First, A Suprise Hug and Some New People!

Heya everyone!

So this week just still been busy with finding new people.

Had an interesting experience happen though with one of the people we met.

So we were taking the bus back to go GQ (Golden Questioning) in the center of town when I had come to mind a potential nearby to visit. So I thought why not we got time to kill and well just GQ on the way there.

Well on the way over there I saw a street which had another potential down it so I'm like while we're here lets find him.

We go down and find out we're at the wrong address but this guy named Paul helps walk around with us to find the address.

We talked with him the whole time and he says he thinks there's more out there after this life but is not sure what and is interested to learn more so were going to try and meet with him this week.

Also last Monday night we met this really nice guy named Duncan who we're hopefully going to meet up with tomorrow night.

On Saturday we did a finding activity in the center with a whiteboard where we wrote a question up on it and then get people to come over and write their answers on the board.

It was the four of us elders and the 2 Recent Convert's Cat and Rachel.

I met a nice guy named Jordan who's a musician and is really chill and said he'd meet up with us and also met a French girl who likes metal music.

In fact when I said I liked it she jumped up and gave me a big hug which took me by surprise.

We also got back late one night and on the way back we had a drunk older woman ask who we were and we talked with her and she said we were really nice/sweet lads and pulled us in for a hug and kissed us each.

So got my first drunk kiss on my mission haha!

Well that's all the major news for this week.
I pray that well be getting some of these people to hold their appointments or are willing to meet up so we can start teaching again.
Take care!

Love,
Elder Tarbet (Wolverine)

A Guy Who Thinks God Lives On Jupiter!

Heya everyone,

So got my son from the mission home and his name is Elder Tullis. He actually knows Elder Beckstrand personally, they are good friends.

We have just been doing lots of finding this week trying to get some new investigators. We got a message from that Mark guy asking if he could talk to us about the BOM and I was debating whether or not to but my greenie was like let's just go see him so we did.

He wasnt interested at all and didn't even have the book.

He did have lots of joints around the flat and 2 massive bags of crack on the table though so we left.

Hey had to give my greenie a great story for his first house he's let into, haha.

So we have to take a bus to the church which takes about 10-12 min.

Elder Ward is the new District Leader in Pollock.

And yea I got to hike Pratt's hill again.

Well not much else happened besides a guy we talked to say that he thinks that God lives on Jupiter.

Take care!

Love ya,

Arthur’s Seat

The hill rises about 823 feet above the city.

On May 3, 1840, Orson Pratt arrived in Scotland as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He organized the first Scottish branch of the Church in Paisley. Then, after laboring in several other cities, Elder Pratt made his way to Edinburgh, where he found it very difficult to get the people to listen to the message of the restored gospel.

Sometimes when things seemed difficult, he would climb to the top of Arthur’s Seat. On top of Arthur’s Seat, Elder Pratt prayed that the people would be receptive to the gospel. He then went down into the city and preached for endless hours, trying to establish the gospel in the city of Edinburgh.

In one of his prayers, Elder Pratt pleaded with the Lord to help him find two hundred converts. After working very hard for ten months, Elder Pratt left Edinburgh having seen more than two hundred people enter into the covenant of baptism.

On New Year’s Day, 1976, a mission president named Derek A. Cuthbert of the Scotland Edinburgh Mission climbed the same hill, for the same purpose. He, together with a group of missionaries, rededicated themselves for missionary work and asked the Lord for three hundred men to strengthen the Church there. Again, the Lord responded; before the end of President Cuthbert’s mission, almost exactly that many new brethren were baptized in the Scotland Edinburgh Mission.

Since then new missionaries arriving in Scotland climb the hill and set goals for themselves and for their work during the next 18-24 months. When the are ready to go at the end of their mission, they climb the hill one more time to reflect on what they have accomplished.

A tradition was born and Arthur's seat is now known as "Pratt's Hill" among the missionaries and Scottish Saints.

I met Elder Tarbet just over a week ago - had an interesting chat about the Isle of Man, Wolverine and motorbikes. All because of the initials TT.

I'm a "Papi"!

Heyo!
So got our moves call and found out that I am training so going to be a “papi”! Both excited and nervous.
This week I spent 2 days in Pollock with the Elders there to help out their area and the rest of the week just continued to help out the ZL's area.
It’s been lots of fun working in a trio but I’m ready to just get back to my area and get some life back in it!
We got them a new investigator named Connor who’s a real nice guy and he’s really interested. He’s reading a lot from the BOM at the moment but doesn’t really understand what’s going on but he feels the Spirit so that’s good.
He came to church along with another of their investigators so they had a good day yesterday.
Had my first week ever with all 0's for my goals in missionary work but not much I can do about it. Just got to go to the grind! Take care this week!
Hey so I forgot to mention in my email that we met with President Donaldson and he was really nice and good, I think he’ll be a very good President for the rest of my mission. And yea we heard about President Packer and President Donaldson said that Richard D. Scott is also not well at the moment so we could end up having another pass.

Take care,

Love ya,

Elder Tarbet (Wolverine)
